Borussia Dortmund is supported by adoring fans who not only come to its home stadium, Signal Iduna Park, but also watch the team on screens all over the world. A good broadcast infrastructure that delivers optimum results at both ends is of the essence. While professional leagues such as the German Bundesliga benefit from huge marketing deals, amateurs and women’s teams are left in the cold. However, interest in Germany’s lower leagues remains strong. Fans who cheer Mats Hummels or Marco Reus on a Saturday would also like to do the same for the (as yet) unknown players in the reserves, youth or women’s sides.
The idea was to offer a new service to Borussia Dortmund’s legions of fans – the heart and soul of the club – by streaming under-17, under-19, under-21 and women’s matches live and in top quality direct to people’s homes. The club was also looking for solutions to enable video analysis by its academy, youth and reserve team coaches to make training even more three-dimensional.
