Team Lead & Principal Software Engineer
For me, communication, supported by genuine active listening, is the key skill in my role. It is not just about passing on information, but above all about truly understanding other perspectives, recognising what is left unsaid and clarifying what is unclear. This ability builds trust, prevents misunderstandings and brings everyone involved onto the same page. However, communication only unfolds its full effect through another of my key strengths: my overview. In software projects, it is easy to get lost in technical details or operational challenges. I always keep an eye on the big picture – especially the business purpose of the project. Why are we developing this software? What specific benefits should it bring? By keeping these questions in focus, I ensure that all decisions and contributions remain aligned with a common, meaningful goal.
I have more than 20 years of experience in software engineering and IT. After completing my education with a focus on artificial intelligence (back when it wasn't yet a hype!) and software engineering, I have held almost every role you can find in a software context: developer, architect, tester, project manager, programme manager, head of software, ...
Since April 2018.
What makes adesso special is the openness and straightforward communication at all levels. The open-door culture is a reality here – you can talk to anyone, regardless of their position. And here in Switzerland, we benefit from the strong support of our German parent company, which gives us stability, trust and a genuine international dynamic.
One of my first projects at adesso was to modernise a module of an application that was over 20 years old, with the aim of making it more contemporary and appealing. I started this project together with colleagues from Switzerland and a team from adesso Turkey. I was particularly impressed by the shared professional culture we developed despite geographical distance and cultural differences. The exceptional support I received from my colleagues and managers at adesso is also worth mentioning. It is easy to find support at adesso, whether you need to discuss ideas, exchange views or simply don't want to face challenges alone. This open and supportive culture makes working together particularly valuable.
My first seminar at adesso was an absolute highlight for me. It offered the perfect opportunity to get to know colleagues from other departments, cities and regions and to exchange ideas outside of the everyday working environment. The training sessions were both inspiring and professionally enriching, and the overall atmosphere was extremely motivating. Events like this clearly demonstrate what makes adesso special: human connection, knowledge exchange and continuous development.
I always take the time to listen to them and keep my promises.
I have many hobbies – and having many hobbies is almost a hobby in itself! My current favourite hobby is boating with my family – it's the perfect mix of adventure, tranquillity and shared experiences. In general, I love discovering, learning and trying new things, currently everything to do with AI, for example. I am particularly fascinated by activities that tell stories, such as theatre, reading and cinema. And no matter what I do, music is always there. I listen to music every day – it accompanies me, inspires me and is simply part of everything I enjoy doing.
When I work from home, I like to go for a walk. At the office, it's more like lunch with my colleagues, where we discuss current events.
I have several, but The Lord of the Rings is definitely one of them.
